gorgeous sailing community – week 7

we had to invest in a new pair of solar panels. we unfortunately cannot keep the battery level high enough to have our fridge running 24/7 (a huge thanks to my former colleagues, what an amazing present!!). with 2x100watt solar panels we get up to 9 ampère, which is twice as much as with the old ones. we hope this will get us bye for the moment. this involved another exhausting trip to panama city.

our wind vane broke off during whispers time on the hard. ordering the needed piece would have taken way too long and we don’t want to wait any longer. we have itchy feed and want to leave panamarina. thus, we decided to build our own, which mo did. I think ours even looks better 🙂 and the best, it works perfectly. we are wrapped.

slowly a cruisiness has crept into our schedule. we started to live the boat life a bit more than only just work. chances are high we get stuck on land chatting to others, when we just wanted to quickly drop the laundry. a 15min job becomes 90min or more and then it becomes mañana – what a word, I love it – things happen, when they want to happen. no stress.

we already met so many inspiring people. the support and advices from the community is amazing. everyone helps each other out and celebrates together when a problem gets solved!

jaco and christelle, a couple from namibia, on sy songerie, were our neighbours for some time. they have sailed the world for the past 12 years. not just that, they also cycled from honduras to chile to have a break from their boat. and now they have two little sailing dogs. many thanks for the support with the navigation and your tracks – so much appreciated!! they are on their way home. however, due to the closing of the pacific, they will have to cross the atlantic twice to get their boat home… christelle said:

no problem, main thing we get home.

I also met frederika who has sailed and lived on a catamaran for the past 11 years, crossed the atlantic a couple of times, hosted many charters. also vegan and into crafting. we klicked right away. she gave me one of her ripe coconuts from the san blas islands to craft my own breakfast bowl – thank you so much! I cannot wait to start my new project… she also gave me some inspiration to try one of her recipes for our first guests on board. yaaaaammo! here her instagram account for some more inspiration: @drika_vegan

we got to know two beautiful souls from switzerland, nico & sophie, @noam_and_the_coconuts. they started their journey in france. they are sailing for one year and have already crossed the atlantic. in awe. we skipped the traveller talk and went into the interesting topics right away. matter, energies, consciousness, awareness, body, mind. we really hope to see them again in the san blas islands. we invited them over as they shall be our first guests we host on whisper. I made a lima beans dip, a vegan coconut ceviche (frederika everyone loved it!) and guacamole.

these two cutties, canela and coco were our second guests from sy songerie. we looked after them for the day. they are the cruisiest sailing dogs to look after. very independent, no fear, jumping onto the dinghy, enjoying the fresh wind while standing on the dinghy tube, jumping off to the jetty. what a great company for the day.

their relaxedness is very contagious…

pura vida.

its soon time to set sail – we cannot wait!
